Every individual born, who grows up, and learns to communicate (verbal & non-verbal)will in some, often many, ways influence those who are around them. Our very existence and our capacity to learn and grow from each other demonstrates our need for one another. We were created to be a social as GOD is social. Just like a farmer who is dependent on the field he/she works; so too is the field dependent on the farmer to care for and nurture it to produce the harvest. I find it interesting that GOD uses the example of the farmer and the caring for the land continually throughout HIS Word. We are all farmers. We all, regardless of age, gender, nationality, or religion cultivate the fields (those who are placed in our lives direct/indirect) of humanity. Just like the farmer we have a question which must be answered: We are all farmers, what seeds do we sow?
The world is a very vast and complex place. There are interactions happening in just about every inch, above/on/under, of this planet. Many have speculated there are no interactions which do not have an effect on all the earth, whether we can recognize them or not. An example I have heard in the past is about a butterfly’s wings affecting the actual wind current. The flapping of the wings sets off a chain of events from the air current caused by that flapping and then its interaction with the rest of the atmosphere. Starting off very small and then gradually having a profound impact. When coupled with all the other interactions affecting the atmosphere this is what makes general patterns predicable and the seeming random rapid changes also possible. Like the butterfly wings, so too, is our interactions with one another. The words, actions, and behaviors we produce will, let me repeat, “will” have an effect/affect on the immediate sphere of influence we have, but also short/long term effect/affect on the greater environment. Therefore, I would encourage us to be all the more prudent in our thoughts and behaviors. And that my friend is where the world (I mean the devil and his minions) wants to throw in a big ball of confusion known culture and subjective truth. Just like when the Jewish people were set aside by GOD to be HIS nation of priests, to take HIS name and Word to all the world; the world was wanting the Jewish people to be just like them. The same reasoning used back then is what is used today. If you look at the lines of thought that are used they have not even changed from then to today. Have you noticed statements like, “That is what you believe…”; “your truth may not be the same as our truth…”; “There is no GOD…”; “We are god’s…”; “we all serve the same god…” and I could keep going. Now, go back and look throughout history and you will see that it is these same ideas and statements being made along with many others. But, GOD tells us something very radically different. GOD tells us there are really only two seeds…good and bad. There are the seeds which are used to produce fruit for HIS kingdom and there is the seed which produces bad fruit for this world. GOD HIMSELF, JESUS, tells us this throughout the New Testament.
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
35 “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.
36 “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
37 “I know that you are Abraham’s descendants; yet you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.
38 “I speak the things which I have seen with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard from your father.”
39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus *said to them, “If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham.
40 “But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.
41 “You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God.”
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me.
43 “Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word.
44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
45 “But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.
46 “Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?
47 “He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.”
John 8:31–47 (NASB95)
Here the LORD is having a discourse about what is in a persons heart and what actually comes out of those individuals. To those who belong to the world there is a hatred for GOD and what is truth and life. Though, in many discourses, JESUS had with others, people would use pleasant/kind words until the LORD would reveal their hearts, their true state of being. Once the LORD did this those same people who would speak kindly would turn on HIM and desire to kill HIM. Just finish the above section of Scripture and see how that turns out. The very ones who were the chosen people of GOD actually believed GOD the SON had a demon. They proved they were not of GOD, but of the world; in other words of the devil himself…his nature. It is these very two different natures – GOD’S and the world’s where people are. All people born, because of Adam’s first transgression, are born into this world with a fallen nature…the world’s nature. We are all dead in our sins and trespasses…there is none righteous no not one…all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD and I could continue with many other texts to demonstrate this truth. There is only one hope for fallen man…the good seed. Which brings me to the here and now. Today, we who have been born again have a choice as we go throughout our day. Do we sow the seeds of the world, its wisdom, its truth, its false inclusion/tolerance of everyone, and its deception of peace; or do we sow what is truth, life and eternal – the living and enduring Word of GOD? The LORD JESUS plainly and clearly teaches us there will be an exquisite difference between those of the GOD and those of the world. This will become visible as a lamp in the darkness or a light on mountain top. What happens internally, a circumcision of the heart, not by hands of men, but by GOD with HIS Word will become dazzling in thought word and deed. We are told the world will clearly know the difference by these actions. However, the world as I mentioned before, is very crafty. Just as the magicians tried to duplicate what Moses was doing; so too does the world disguise itself as an angel of light. the world speaks about all people being good and moral. It tells us there is no god but ourselves and we have within us to overcome the hatred and divisiveness which plagues the world. If we only lay aside our differences and trust that we all can make a better place then we will. We are told it does not matter what religion you are (including atheists) because religion is man made. Just believe what you want and as long as your faith moves you to be a better person then you are doing right by all. However, we are also told, if your faith leads you to tell someone they are wrong for what they believe, you are then not acting in love but hatred. The world wants us to believe that everyone, regardless of what they believe, is true and to go against that shows you are of the devil. Interestingly, just like back then, today if you do love someone to tell them the truth those who espouse tolerance become intolerant and want to kill you (See Scripture above).
So, here we are left to determine, as farmers, which seed we will take with us as we go about the fields of this world. During the day does that which comes from your mouth and the actions that you take demonstrate that you yourself are a fruit of the good seed? Remember like kind gives way to like kind. Is there a light in you or is there a great darkness? The LORD JESUS CHRIST tells us how we will know. As The LORD commanded the Apostles to go out and teach disciples to do as HE commanded, as HE did…then I leave you with this incredible parable. It is my hope, as we continue on this journey home, we as exiles will sow the good seed everywhere we are. It is also my prayer, that if you happen to be reading this and know that you have not trusted in the finished work of JESUS on the cross for your sins against GOD. That today HIS good seed would not only be sown, but you would be given eyes to see and ears to hear. I pray this day GOD through HIS SPIRIT would reveal the LORD JESUS to you, that you would repent, believe on the LORD JESUS and be saved! Today is the day of salvation…now is the acceptable time!
Parable of the Sower and Soils
1 He began to teach again by the sea. And such a very large crowd gathered to Him that He got into a boat in the sea and sat down; and the whole crowd was by the sea on the land.
2 And He was teaching them many things in parables, and was saying to them in His teaching,
3 “Listen to this! Behold, the sower went out to sow;
4 as he was sowing, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up.
5 “Other seed fell on the rocky ground where it did not have much soil; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil.
6 “And after the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
7 “Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.
8 “Other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
9 And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
10 As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve, began asking Him about the parables.
11 And He was saying to them, “To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables,
12 so that while seeing, they may see and not perceive, and while hearing, they may hear and not understand, otherwise they might return and be forgiven.”
13 And He *said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables?
14 “The sower sows the word.
15 “These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.
16 “In a similar way these are the ones on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy;
17 and they have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary; then, when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they fall away.
18 “And others are the ones on whom seed was sown among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word,
19 but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
20 “And those are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil; and they hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
21 And He was saying to them, “A lamp is not brought to be put under a basket, is it, or under a bed? Is it not brought to be put on the lampstand?
22 “For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.
23 “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”
24 And He was saying to them, “Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides.
25 “For whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.”
